About the Author

Shelly McDuffie began her writing career at age eight. Her passion for writing horror stories was fueled by her vivid imagination and curiosity of all things supernatural. As a child, living in a large house filled with hidden passage ways, secret rooms and a dark and creepy basement, Shelly created horrific scenarios of being chased by creatures and dueling with the spirits.

“Ankle to the Soul” is McDuffie's debut novel. It delves into a world of demonic mystique and mayhem, which would have even famed horror writer Stephen King afraid to sleep with the lights off. Filled with intriguing characters, the novel takes you on a rollercoaster ride to the "dark side." Warning - it is not for the squeamish at heart.

McDuffie is a native of St. Louis, Missouri, and currently resides in St. Louis with her husband, Anthony McDuffie and (dog) Maxwell Smart. Writing horror stories is a pastime - for now. McDuffie is also a writer/producer for KPLR-TV WB11 in St. Louis.

In her spare time she enjoys reading and writing (horror stories, of course), walking Maxwell Smart, and spending time with her family. It was her wonderful parents, both educators, who strongly encouraged her to pursue her dream of writing a novel. She is a graduate of the University of MO-St. Louis.

McDuffie is currently working on her second novel, which is due for release in the fall of 2005.
